Chloe Wu
Is a professor on fashion design and pattern making. She got her PHD degree in fashion design and engineering from Fashion Institute of Donghua University, which is the best fashion and textile university in China. After graduating she became a professor, taught fashion design, pattern making, fabrics and textiles, sewing technique, CAD, apparel development etc. classes in Fashion institute of Shanghai University of Engineering Science. Over ten years ago she came to the USA as a visiting scholar at the department of Textile and Clothing in UC Davis.

She was a teacher since 2001, has over 20 years teaching experience in fashion design and pattern making, supervisor hundreds of students to finish their design and fashion show.
In 2022, she launched “WHY fashion”, a fashion design and making school located in San Jose, for both children and adults. In her school, adults who want to learn design and sewing can design their own style and make it, children who love design can develop their imagination and design their own works. Her rich teaching experience allows her to share her passion and professional skills to the future designers.

No prior experience? No problem. Our curriculum is designed to accommodate students of all skill levels, with specialized classes tailored for both children and adults. Small-size Class:

With a limited class size of Max six students, each child receives the individual attention and personalized instruction they deserve. Our small class setting ensures every student can fully engage with the material and receive guidance from our experienced instructor.

Cancellation, Refund, Make-Up, and Exchange Policies​

Waiver: Please note WHY Fashion requires a waiver form to be signed for all participants under eighteen years of age by their parent or guardian prior to attending a class, camp or workshop with WHY Fashion.

Reservation: Seats in our classes are based on availability and require registration as well as a payment of the total class fee, the payment is reserves a seat in the class for your child.

If We Cancel: Should WHY Fashion cancel a class or a camp due to low enrollment, inclement weather or other force majeure a refund will be made in full within 10 business days.

Date Transfers: For Classes, Your child's registration can be transferred to another class time with one-week notice (based on availability). For camp, Your child's registration can be transferred to another camp time with three weeks notice (based on availability). Transfer must be of equal value and take place within six month.

Make Up Classes: In order to keep your child's fashion education on track we can accommodate one make up class during a 5-7 week course for Fashion Design and Sewing Class (kids and teens). Make up classes are taken during another sewing class time, in the same season, and require advance scheduling so that we're ready with your child's project. Our make-up class policy is for multi-week sewing classes only offered during the fall, winter, and spring terms.

No Shows: Any no-shows will forfeit their full tuition fee. Please let us know if your child will not be able to join us prior to the class start time.
Cancellation

For classes, WHY Fashion will refund your tuition paid, and less a $20 cancellation fee would be changed if you cancel more than 7 days before the start date of a class, camp or workshop. If you contact us via email or phone 24 hours prior to the class start time, you may transfer the reservation to another class or a credit for a future class. If no notification of cancellation occurs or a call is placed fewer than 24 hours before the class, you will forfeit your tuition.

For camps,
Before May 1, if you need to make changes or cancellations:
You may transfer your child to any available camp at no charge as long as there is space available and your child has completed the prerequisites.
You may receive a refund of all monies paid toward camp fees to your original payment method. less a cancellation fee of $25 per enrollment week.
From May 1 to June 1, if you need to make changes or cancellations:
You may transfer your child to any available camp at no charge as long as there is space available and your child has completed the prerequisites.
You may receive a refund of all monies paid toward camp fees to your original payment method. less a cancellation fee of $95 per enrollment week.
After June 1,if you need to make changes or cancellations:
You may transfer your child to any available camp at no charge as long as there is space available and your child has completed the prerequisites.
No refunds or credits will be given.

Photo Release: WHY Fashion studio and its instructors are hereby granted permission to take photographs of the students to use in brochures, web sites, posters, and other promotional materials the program creates.
